Sixteen Months...

Sophie turned 16 months old last week. She's about to cut 4 more teeth and her hair is so long! She mimics EVERYTHING we do and loves to make herself laugh. If she weren't so caution she'd be walking on her own. Books, books, books...we can't look/read through enough books each day. Her favorite...Not Norman, A Goldfish Story. Little Einsteins has become another cartoon favorite. And Train's "Hey, Soul Sister" is another tune she shakes her bum to.

She's learned this new "I don't know"" gesture. [So cute] We listen for birds and make animals noises. Bear growling is the best, by far!! She likes to push the shopping cart or stand inside it. Climbing in anything is so cool and she likes to roll from her back to her belly, over and over, on the floor.

"I don't know..."

Have a great week everyone. Lots of love!!

The Cape...

Grumps and Memaw came to town Friday to join us on our Cape Hatteras vacation last week. It was so nice to have company and enjoy the beach life with some familiar faces! Sophie loved watching the seagulls fly overhead and didn't want to stay indoors. She loved walking on the balcony and looking through the fishing book to point out all the different fish.

Walking with Memaw

Okay so a little history for you...Cape Hatteras Light is a lighthouse located on Hatteras Island in the Outer Banks of NC and near Buxton [where we stayed]. We could literally see the lighthouse from our house. AMAZING! Anyway...over 1 million bricks were used in the construction of this structure in 1868-1870 and the lighthouse is still considered "operational" although modern GPS makes it easier to navigate the ocean without. It stands at around 200 ft naming it the tallest lighthouse in America.

Back to the beach...Water was super cold so only the feet came in contact [for me personally]. Daddy and Grumps were the brave ones and jumped in with Sampson. Unfortunately, Sammy had to learn the hard way NOT to drink the salt water. We sure felt bad for the people swimming upstream...ICKY!!!

And lastly, we took a ferry to the island of Ocracoke where we saw the Banker Ponies. The legend says that the ancestors of the ponies seen there today came from shipwrecked vessels in the Graveyard of the Atlantic or from Spanish explorers. Historians think the ponies came with Raleigh expeditions and were left on Roanoke Island. Bet you didn't think you were going to get a history lesson today, eh? Anywho - Sophie LOVED watching these ponies.

That's our trip in a nut shell. Had so much fun and very much loved the visit Grumps and Memaw. Thanks again for making the trip!!!

Hope everyone reading had a great holiday weekend. Happy Memorial Day, again, to ALL our soldiers!!

Love, love, love.

Golfing with Daddy...

Weather was perfect with a slight breeze and Sophie loved riding in the cart without being buckled in her seat. So much so, she was perfectly content sitting or standing right next to me the entire two hours.

Luckily, Dad wasn't disturbed by Sophie's sudden outbursts and played a fantastic game...[wink, wink]. Love you Honey. :)

She loved keeping score and soon found the residents had DOGS and SQUIRRELS on their lawn!!

Thanks again Daddy for letting us tag along. We very much enjoyed the outing.

Have a great week everybody!!

Happy Mother's Day!!...

Started Mother's day weekend Friday when my Hubby brought flowers and a huge cookie cake home. Sophie MUCH enjoyed this tasty treat!! Thanks Dad!

Saturday we took a trip to a strawberry field and picked fresh berries. Sophie enjoyed watching us pick them while she dropped them in the bucket. She'd sneak a quick lick on a couple before putting them in too. Guess she had to make sure they were edible before we took them home, eh?

And, of course, the end result...

Had a great weekend and I can't thank my family enough for making me feel so special everyday. Happy Mother's Day, again, to all the wonderful Mommy's out there. Hope your day was fantastic!!

Love, love, love!!

The checkup...

Today was Sophie's 15 month checkup and the last of her 12 month shots. Shots are never fun and she has a HUGE fear of strangers right now so the visit was anything but exciting. I have to admit her Doctor is the sweetest most understanding person so I have to thank her for being so patient.

On to the specs...she's grown to 29 inches [up two inches] and weighs 21 pounds. Still a little shrimp!! No worries from Doc and she thinks Sophie will be walking within a few weeks. [AHHH!!] I thought I was prepared for this milestone but I think I may be in for it with this one. More to come...

And here is the cutest video of Sophie laughing at Sampson chasing bubbles...

Happy Wednesday!!

Fifteen Months...

Sophie seems bigger...a hair taller, maybe, and she might weigh slightly more considering how many strawberries she can eat in one setting. She wants to walk and talk so bad it kills us to watch her try. She likes to lean her back against the couch or ottoman and practice her new found "standing with no hands" ability. She can even back up to the steps and crawl down each one until she reaches the bottom!

She's a copy-catter. She loves to sit in her little people chairs and has pretty much figured out how to get in/out of them all by herself. She does "cheese" for the camera showing all her pearly whites. And we blow kisses to Daddy when he has to leave town. Our wagon from Rammie and Rampa is so cool. Lady Antebellum is her new favorite band. Daddy is the best jungle gym. And Mommy...well I'm just Mommy but she does like to sit in my lap anytime I sit on the floor with her.

We were in Myrtle Beach visiting Grandpa Tom, recently, and came across a kite shop after eating some great pizza. Here is Sophie's monkey kite and her reaction when Daddy got it flying. Wind didn't last long so luckily we were at the park to play afterwards.

And FINALLY...The Lunar Module I have been waiting patiently for my Dad to finish. Wow...this picture doesn't even do justice for the intricate details you can see up close. Thanks Dad!

Happy Monday! Hope everyone has an awesome week! Love, love, love.

Mickey Land...

As many of you already know Sophie is a huge, HUGE Mickey Mouse fan. We decided to take her to Disney World in Orlando yesterday while Mike was there for work. After what seemed to be an entire morning getting onto Magic Kingdom, we started our hunt for MICKEY!!

Okay...so Magic Kingdom consists of Disney characters scattered about for you to wait [in a mile long line] to get your picture with. When you not waiting in these lines you can enjoy a $5.00 hotdog or peruse through endless shops filled with heaps of Mickey gear. Sounds fantastic, eh? Anywho - Sophie picked a Mickey cup that she didn't put down all day.

[Note: The tiny-est of snow globes will not make it past TSA thus really infuriating your husband.]

This is "OMG...Tigger and Pooh!"...

Standing in line to see Tigger and Pooh...

"Nope, just kidding...I don't really wanna see Tigger and Pooh"...

I must say the short skits put on by all the characters was really quite entertaining. And the street dancing was pretty fun as well. Sophie followed Mickey's dancing here and now knows the "stirring wheel" move.

Completely tuckered and having gotten a weeks worth workout, we are back home. Our Disney experience has filled us with great memories and Sophie couldn't have had a better time.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!! Lots of love to everyone reading!!
